Mulit-purpose Anti-crime LockJun 03, 2011
By CTa This lock is not only effective against theft, but also assault, robbery, terrorism, bullies, you name it. Just pull it out and start swinging it, guaranteed to kill anything that's human. You can even use it to repel bullets, although you shouldn't try swimming with it.
I almost broke my toes on several occasion, when it wiggled itself out of my grasp through its sheer weight and hit the floor. My carbon fiber bike is about the same weight as my friend's steel bike with this monster, and I always fear that it will rip through the bottom of my backpack.
That being said, it probably intimidates any bike thief before they even attempt to break it. I lived in Oakland beside a public high school (go figure what all these little buggers do in their free time. Stealing bikes, that is). At the bike storage area of my building bikes get stolen left and right, but my sweet little ride remained untouched in the eye of the storm, as though it was protected by a spell.
Perfect if you want maximum security, not so if your back is not strong enough to carry it.

Wowzers!Apr 30, 2010

It's HUGE and no run-of-the-mill combo lock fits on this bad boy. IF any thief can get through this monster (and accompanying lock) - I say they deserve my bike. Nuff said.

HeavyOct 08, 2010
By Rully P. Wijaya This thing can take some real punishment and i feel safe leaving my bicycle out on the street with this chain. however this thing is heavy and you have to put a little more effort while turning and going up hill. Don't try picking up your bike with this thing attached if you have a weak spine or back.

not full proofAug 25, 2010
By Kent Giltz my bike was stolen while locked up securely with this exact lock and chain between 11pm and 1am on a busy sidewalk in the east village nyc..so at least one person out there knows how to open this without a key..it may now be a matter of time..about 10 years ago there was another kryptonite (same style) that was hugely popular in the city until it was figured out and everyone that had one (and i mean everyone) got there bike stolen..i give this a "one" not based on comparison to others, most others are inferior..but simply based on the fact that my bike was stolen with this lock and this chain..so i give the poor rating to remind people that this is NOT a full-proof way of preventing theft..my bike was only worth about 600 new and maybe 400 now

Nobody Messes With Me Or My Bike!Jul 31, 2010
By 5-7HEAVEN Everyone thought it was overkill, even the bike shop owner. Ya can't be too careful or cautious. I'd consider using two Kryptonite locks on my motorized bicycle. I carry this 12lb. chain easily wherever I go, like a bandolier. I'm 64 years old and 195lbs, in good condition.
